Our History

Rezidence Ostrovní is a late classicist building in the centre of Prague built on romanesque foundations. Visitors can experience the history of the house in its underground part and especially in the Stone Hall.

Archaeological excavations have confirmed the house dates back to the 14th century. The romanesque period can be seen in the cellar of the house.

According to the earliest numbering of the houses in 1770, the house was number 152. In 1805 the whole of Prague was renumbered and the house, then called ,,U Komínků", was given the present number 222.

The architect Josef Turba rebuilt the building into its late classicist form in 1869. In 1868 the foundations of the National Theatre were laid just a few metres from the Rezidence Ostrovní.

In 2007-2009, the house was reconstructed. In the house you will find 10 fully equipped apartments, which provide guests with maximum comfort.
